How do I set up my I-13/I-16 device to perform automatic backups?

In order for the I-13 and I-16 devices to perform automatic backups, you need to be logged into a OneDrive account.  If you log into your device already with an online Microsoft account, this is already done for you and the automatic backups are already schedule.

If you have purchased a device that was built to order, you will need to set up OneDrive.  Follow these steps...

  1. Select the Start menu
  2. Scroll down the programs list and select OneDrive
  3. If you do not already have a Microsoft account, select Create account.  If you have a Microsoft account, type in your email address and select Sign In then enter your password.
It is not necessary to purchase a OneDrive account plan.  You get 5 GB of free storage which is typically enough space for the data that gets backed up.
