What types of buttons are available in Snap and how do you change types?

In version 1.0 of Snap, there are five different types of buttons you can use on your pages: Regular, Grammar, Predictor, Keyboard and Inflector.
  • Regular (default) - Any time you create a new button, it will be Regular type. By default, Regular type buttons are pre-assigned the Speak or Insert Message action. Add a label and/or symbol and the button is use ready to be used. Regular buttons can:
    • be used with symbols or photos
    • have spoken or recorded messages
    • be assigned multiple actions from a list of 19 available actions.
  • Grammar – This type of buttons automatically updates its own label text to predict the desired grammatical form of the word based on the current contents of the message window. For example, if the button label was “go” and “He” is added to the message windows, the button label would change to “went.”
    • The automatic updating of all Grammar can be turned off/on to meet the specific needs of a user. (Refer to the KB article, Working with Grammar Buttons.)
  • Predictor –This type automatically updates its label, and symbol, to the most likely next word based on the current text in the message window. Predictor buttons can:
    • automatically insert the label into the message window when selected.
    • display a symbol for the predicted word (User > Preferences).
    • speak on insert if the message window has appropriate setting selected (User > Preferences).
  • Keyboard – This type of button will insert a single character into the message window, or act as a keyboard modifier. These are used to make accessible keyboards. Keyboard buttons can:
    • have four choices of modifiers that can be assigned: Backspace, Space, Shift and Caps Lock.
    • speak on insert if the message window has appropriate setting selected (User > Preferences).
  • Inflector – This type of button changes the last word in the message window to a specific word form (-s, -er, past tense, etc.). Inflector buttons can:
    • be assigned to inflect one of the 28 available word forms for verbs, nouns, adjectives and adverbs.
    • display as its label the inflected form of the last word in the message window.
    • can display a symbol used to represent the word form it will inflect.
