Session 2: Growing Content in the AAC System

Description

AAC systems need to grow alongside the person using them. But growing a system does not mean constantly creating new boards or adding more and more content. It is also about making good use of the vocabulary already there, understanding how it is organized, and expanding it when there is a real need.

In this session, we will explore practical ways to support vocabulary growth over time while keeping the AAC system useful, familiar, and manageable.

Participants will be able to:

• Identify when an AAC system may need more vocabulary
• Evaluate different ways of organizing and expanding content
• Develop a practical plan for growing AAC content over time
