AAC's Role in Aphasia Therapy: Supporting Communication and Recovery

Description

We know AAC helps people with aphasia communicate—but it can also be a powerful therapeutic tool.

Join us to explore how TD Snap Aphasia and Boardmaker can become part of your therapy toolbox. You'll review the evidence supporting AAC as an intervention for aphasia, discover practical strategies for integrating AAC into therapy sessions, and learn how to create and find engaging Boardmaker activities that promote communication and recovery.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe research that supports AAC as an evidence-based therapeutic technique.
  • Identify 5 specific strategies for implementing TD Snap and Boardmaker into therapy sessions for people with aphasia.
  • Describe how to find and create therapeutic Boardmaker activities for people with aphasia

After the 1.5-hour CEU course, stay for a special 30-minute session focused on the Texas Specialized Telecommunications Assistance Program (STAP) to learn how eligible Texans can access communication technology and how you can help connect your clients with this valuable resource.
