AAC's Role in Aphasia Therapy: Supporting Communication and Recovery
Description Learn how to use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) during therapy for people with aphasia. In this training, you will learn about the research that supports AAC as an evidence-based therapeutic technique, specific strategies for implementing TD Snap and Boardmaker into therapy sessions with a focus on aphasia, and how to create and find therapeutic Boardmaker activities. In addition, she a speech-language pathologist, AAC specialist, disability advocate, and neurodiversity educator. Caroline worked for many years in school settings as a teacher and an SLP. She also worked in medical settings with adult and pediatric populations, and specialized in supporting communication access for people with multiple disabilities. Caroline is passionate about disability justice and inclusion, and firmly believes that communication is a fundamental human right.

Lauren is a Learning Consultant for Tobii Dynavox. She is also a Speech Language Pathologist with extensive experience treating clients in rehabilitation centers, hospitals, and schools. Initially joining Tobii Dynavox as a Solutions Consultant, she worked directly with SLPs and their clients to explore assistive technology solutions. Now, as a Learning Consultant, her focus lies in developing and delivering trainings to empower communicators and their partners.
