How speech therapists can help their clients with ALS/MND
If you are a speech therapist about to treat, or are already treating, clients with ALS/MND, we have a few free, printable downloads that can really help you with your work.
Free ALS/MND resources
Many speech therapists working with people who have ALS/MND are looking for tangible resources to help them either get started with AAC for their clients or to help them benefit from more targeted AAC resources as their condition progresses.
Whether you are new to AAC or have been recommending assistive communication to your ALS/MND clients for some time, we’re certain that you’ll find these resources useful.
These printable resources include:
- an intake communication survey to help speech therapists evaluate when to start AAC with their ALS clients
- a set of communication boards, available in many languages, that include a pain scale, Eye Transfer (E-Tran) boards and partner assisted scanning boards with rows for expressing feelings, discomfort, entertainment preferences and usage instructions
- a set of handouts to give to your clients to help them understand their voice preservation options
- a poster about myths related to ALS/MND
