A tech support manager who (really) gets it
We believe AI should be practical, trustworthy, and designed to support greater communication, independence, and participation.
At Tobii Dynavox, AI has been part of how we design and develop our solutions for many years. Long before AI became a trend, we were using machine learning technologies such as pattern recognition, prediction, and adaptation to help people communicate more effectively and interact with the world around them.
From the start, our focus has been simple. We use technology, including AI, to help people communicate, live more independently, and take part in everyday life. That work has always been guided by a strong sense of responsibility, with safety, reliability, and real-world impact at the center.
When we talk about AI, we are referring to a broad set of technologies that enable systems to learn, adapt, and respond to real-world situations.
The foundations of AI have been part of our products for years. They help our solutions interpret eye movement, adapt to individual users, support personalization, and make communication more efficient and accessible.
As new forms of AI emerge, including generative AI, we evaluate them through the same lens we always have: do they help solve meaningful challenges for the people who rely on our products?
Technology should be useful, reliable, and designed to meet real needs. Whether a capability is well established or newly introduced, those expectations remain the same.
Because our products support communication in everyday life, we have always taken a careful and responsible approach to developing and using technology.
For us, that means:
We do not use AI for its own sake. We use it when it helps address real challenges that people face when communication is not easily accessible.
That means focusing on outcomes that matter in everyday life:
Our solutions are designed to work across a wide range of environments and situations, where accuracy, simplicity, and reliability can make a meaningful difference.
Our use of AI is not driven by trends. Many of the technologies that support our products today have been evolving for years, shaped by extensive experience, real-world use, and the needs of the people who rely on them.
As AI advances, we will continue to evaluate new capabilities thoughtfully and responsibly. What will not change are the principles that guide our decisions.
Our mission is to empower people with disabilities to do what they once did or never thought possible. That mission guides every decision we make about technology, including AI, and it will continue to guide how we innovate in the years ahead.
