Training Type: Discovery Lab

Many adults use symbol supported tools to help them communicate and engage socially. In this interactive discovery lab, using lecture and hands-on application, we will discover augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) solutions using Snap + Core First and Snap Scene to help the adult symbol-based communicator become a more independent communicator. You will leave this course with a variety of solutions to add to your toolbox of appropriate supports for an adult symbol-based communicator.

Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion, participants will be able to:

·        Identify three communication needs that arise from the communication challenges that exist for the adult symbol-based communicator

·        Explain three features available within AAC supports that work to meet the communication needs of the adult symbol-based communicator

·        Select an appropriate AAC support to meet a specific need of the adult symbol-based communicator
