Behavior is communication. This workshop will discuss the relationship between challenging behaviors and the communication needs of the individual using AAC. We will explore strategies to target positive behaviors using both visual and vocabulary supports integrated in the Snap + Core First software. Attendees will also learn how to create, customize, and share supports within the software to help implement these strategies successfully in a variety of settings.

Learning Outcomes:  Upon successful completion, participants will be able to:  

  • ·   Name three primary reasons behind challenging behaviors
  • ·   Name two vocabulary strategies that can replace a challenging behavior
  • ·   List three types of behavior supports that can be integrated into an AAC device

Presenter: Lindsey Frohn

Lindsey worked in a rehabilitation hospital for over six years as a pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) before joining Tobii Dynavox. While working with a wide variety of diagnoses and disorders, she developed a passion for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) to increase her patients’ abilities to communicate successfully. Lindsey is presently a Learning Consultant with the Learning Services team at Tobii Dynavox. In this role, she develops and facilitates internal and external customer training and implementation resources. Lindsey also presents at local, national, and international conferences about AAC topics.
