Implementing Eye Gaze Technology & Communication for Emerging Communicator
Course Description: This implementation based workshop will begin by reviewing the technical and functional aspects of eye tracking technology and various Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) language systems for the emergent communicator. AAC communication language organization and page set options successfully supported by eye gaze access method will be identified. Finally, communication partner strategies to support successful participation and interaction will be reviewed.
Learning Objectives:  Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  • Identify 2 AAC language options or communication page sets that can be used with eye tracking.
  • State 2 communication partner strategies for successful communication with gaze interaction technology.
  • Identify 3 key technical features that make eye tracking technology successful.

Patrick Brune, MS CCC-SLP, has over 25 years of clinical experience in the area of AAC. He has been working with Tobii Dynavox for the past 7 years and is part of their Training and Implementation team. His focus has been on developing tools and supports that create successful communication opportunities for all our customers. Patrick has presented at local, national and international conferences about AAC topics.
