Course Description: You are invited to attend and participate in the exploration of the Snap + Core First communication software from Tobii Dynavox.  Using lecture and hands on exploration activities, participants will learn about the communication solutions of Snap + Core First that support communication engagement, literacy and language growth.  Techniques for customization, simplification, and implementation will be our focus.   Each participant will leave the session with a handful of resources and practical tips that can be used the very next day!
 
Learning Objectives:  Upon completion, participants will be able to: 

  • Name 3 communication tools that can be used to promote language and literacy development with the Snap + Core First communication software
  • Describe 2 methods for customizing Snap + Core first to support quick communication engagement
  • List 3 types of positive behavior supports that may be integrated into AAC devices

To maximize your learning potential in this workshop, registrants will need to bring a compatible Tobii Dynavox device, iPad, or Windows 10 computer/tablet with the Tobii Dynavox Snap + Core First app installed.

Presenter: Leigh Cooley

Leigh joined Tobii Dynavox after spending eight years specializing in the implementation of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) within a school setting. She has prior experience as an educator assistant in elementary and intermediate special education. While at Tobii Dynavox, Leigh spent two years as a regional Sales consultant, working with clients ranging in age from infant to geriatric. Currently, Leigh is a Learning Consultant on the Learning Services team at Tobii Dynavox where she leads the Sales New Hire program in addition to developing and facilitating trainings and implementation resources. She also presents at local, national, and international conferences about AAC topics.
