Individuals who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) are all unique. They have individualized sensory, motor, cognitive, and language needs, as well as individual strengths. It can be difficult to adequately determine the needs and areas of strength when conducting an AAC evaluation. In most cases, standardized assessment tools are not appropriate for the AAC assessment.
