Intro to Tobii Dynavox Software and Hardware
Our first session will be on Tobii Dynavox Snap + Core First software. We will be reviewing research, design, and application of the software. Basic hardware solutions will also be reviewed as it pertains to the communication software.
Our second session will focus on an overview of eye gaze technology and how it’s applied to individuals with complex communication needs. Attendees will also review the user profiles in the Communicator 5 software and page set solutions for each ability level.
Our final session will help you develop specific strategies to go beyond requesting into the world of asking questions, making comments, protesting, expressing opinions, and other communicative functions. We will explore the power of various communicative functions, vocabulary selection, teaching strategies, and specific ways to facilitate communication beyond requesting.

Presenter: Nuala South
Nuala South received her degrees from the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University. She has worked as a speech-language pathologist since 1981, specializing in the field of augmentative and alternative communication with children and adults with developmental and acquired disabilities. She has presented at a number of state conferences and local associations, as well as conducting workshops and trainings, all related to augmentative and alternative communication. Nuala has taught AAC at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and Oklahoma State University. Nuala has been employed as an AAC sales consultant for Tobii Dynavox for Oklahoma and Arkansas since 2008. She provides assistance with trainings, demonstrations, evaluations, and funding for communication devices for adults & children. Nuala has received the Gwen Cacy Award for outstanding clinician and Honors of the Association from the Oklahoma Speech and Hearing Association.
