June 09, 2022

In order to purchase an Open key for your Tobii Dynavox device you will need the serial number when you place the order. To find the serial number, follow the options for your device model.

I-Series I-16 or I-13
1. The serial number is on the back of the device. It is to the right of the mount plate. If the device is mounted, it could be removed from the mount to find it, or use option 2. The serial number starts with TDG16-############ (12 numbers) or TDG13-############ (12 numbers)
2.  Open the hardware settings app. This can be found on the desktop or by using the Windows search bar at the bottom left next to the Windows Logo icon. Open the hardware settings app and select the System and Diagnostics option. The Serial number is listed there.
TDI-110 and I-110 Classic
1. The serial number is on the back of the device. Lift the leg/stand. The number is under the bar code. The I-110 Classic starts with TDG10-############ (12 numbers) and the TD I-110 starts with TD110-############ (12 numbers)
2. Open the hardware settings app. This can be found on the desktop or by using the Windows search bar at the bottom left next to the Windows Logo icon. Open the hardware settings app and select the System and Diagnostics option. The Serial number is listed there.

Note: If you are asked for the iPad serial number, you can find this within the iPad iOS.  Select the settings icon, General, and About. The serial number of the iPad will be listed.  It is 12 letters and numbers. If the SC Tablet serial number cannot be found, Tech Support or Customer Service may ask for this instead.
TD Pilot
1. The serial number is below and to the right of the fold out leg on the bottom of the device. There is a silver sticker that starts with TDPLT-############ (12numbers).
Note: If you are asked for the iPad serial number, you can find this within the iPad iOS.  Select the settings icon, General, and About. The serial number of the iPad will be listed.  It is 12 letters and numbers. If the TD Pilot serial number cannot be found, Tech Support or Customer Service may ask for this instead.
EM-12
1. The serial number is on the EM-12 bracket that holds the Surface in place. Loosen the thumb screw that holds the adjustable arm, and remove the Surface tablet. Above the Eye tracker is a sticker. The serial number starts with TEM12-###### (6 numbers).
Note: If you cannot find the TEM12 serial number, there are a couple other serial numbers you can provide Customer Service or Tech Support, if asked.  The same sticker above the eye tracker will have a TDEMP-############ (12 numbers) serial number.  The Surface Pro tablet itself has a serial number that can be found on the tablet. It is hard to see, as it is silver letters and numbers on silver. Expand the leg/stand and it is on the bottom edge below the Microsoft logo. Example: #### 128GB  ############ (12 numbers). The 12 numbers are the serial number of the Tablet.

Note: If the serial number is still showing up as incorrect, make sure the dashes are in the correct location and double check the letters and numbers (ex: zero vs. the letter o, the number 1 vs. the letter l, etc.).  If you are getting the serial number from software on the device, you can also use copy/paste.  If all else fails, feel free to contact our Customer Service or Tech Support at 1-800-344-1778.  We can assist with helping you find the correct serial number.

Why are you required to order an open key for funded devices?  In July of 2015, Medicare (CMS) updated the National Coverage Determination (NCD) for Speech Generating Device, which allows Medicare beneficiaries the ability to open their SGDs and grants access to non-covered services such as the internet, video conferencing etc. These services are clearly noted in the NCD as non-covered services by Medicare and must be paid for by the beneficiary.
Tobii Dynavox, nor any other supplier, should be providing an open key to a beneficiary at no cost due to prohibiting law. Please note that no employee of Tobii Dynavox is allowed to purchase an open key for a beneficiary.  As Medicare providers, violation of this policy is considered fraudulent.
